Anaesthetics and High Care:

The anaesthetic team support the busy maternity ward as well as emergency and elective work from the orthopaedic and general surgical takes.

A 4 bedded high care unit is used to monitor the sickest patients (including post-op).

Patients requiring >24hrs of ventialtion are transferred to a receiving hospital (though like many areas intensive care beds are in short supply).
